Detailed Information

Karene-Isabelle Jean-Baptiste is a Montreal-based photographer. She spent several years as an engineer before deciding to pursue photography full-time. She’s on the lookout for ephemeral moments of enchantment that arise and vanish in an instant within a scene or a human face. Her goal is for those moments to last and reveal the depths of emotion that sometimes go unrecognised.

In 2021, the daily La Presse gave her the inaugural Photojournalism Diversity Grant.

For her picture project on Black Women in Healthcare, she was named a Woman of the Year 2020 by Best Health Magazine.

CTV National News and CityNews Montreal have both showcased her work on network television.

She’s also a member of the Black Women Photographers group.
