Chiyana Ankhrah also known as Eshe.
I’m a professional photographer with more than two years of editorial and creative portraiture expertise. In my editorial work, I’m particularly interested in challenging and destabilising Eurocentric beauty norms through elevating and empowering Black women and familiarising the Western beauty and fashion industries with ‘non-traditional’ Black characteristics. My art has been included in exhibitions such as the UKBFTOG’s We Are Here exhibit, as well as in publications such as Mob Journal and Feroce Magazine.
I also want to address and challenge dangerous stereotypes surrounding Black mental health and the issues the Black British community faces in terms of getting help, talking about mental health, communicating feelings, and expressing what it’s like to live with mental illness through the use of conceptual and documentary images.
